What are thy sumptoms for Non-diabetic hyperglycemia?
Does anyone know the symptoms for Non-diabetic hyperglycemia. I think I have all the symptoms except I don't gain weight and everything I read speaks of overweight or weight gain.
There's some confusion here, I think.
Non-diabetics are very good at keeping their blood glucose levels quite steady. It is therefore, very odd to have a non-diabetic with high blood glucose levels. So odd that it is almost certainly a symptom of something rather serious, and you should see a doctor to check it all out. This is a rather serious issue.
The symptoms of hyperglycemia are similar, whatever the cause. *First, once the glucose level is higher than the renal threshold, your kidneys will start spilling glucose and will use water to do it, so you're likely to be (or on the ways to becoming) dehydrated. This is not good.
*Second, as your blood glucose level rises, more water will be pulled (for straightforward osmotic reasons) from within cells into the blood. This will result in a sort of extra special dehydration of body cells. This is not good.
*Third, as part of the dehydration and the kidney's dumping water to keep the glucose level under some soft of control, electrolytes will be lost; these are small molecules or ions which are required for various functions including operation of every nerve in the body. This is also not good.
In short, if you really are hyperglycemic, things are not good. Go see a doctor, promptly. Don't put it off to the first available appointment next Tuesday.

Most likely, if you're hyperglycemic, you've become diabetic. That is also not good. But, the good news here is that we now know enough to avoid almost all of the downside of diabetes (and there's a long downside list). All it takes is for you to take over (with the aid of your doctor or PA) the fucntion of your beta cells. YOU will have think about your food intake, about your medication, about your exercise, and about special situations (like infection or physical or psychological stress). No more automatic unthinking operation. Most everyone finds this all a major pain, and that's a problem, but it's not all that hard. Just expensive and something you can never neglect, even for a day. No more carefree vacations.
