My wife has just been diagnosed as having type 2 Diabeties
Now she has no idea what she can eat.
She has been give a chart of the things to avoid, which wouls appear to be all food, well all food shwe would eay before
So waht do real diabetics eat, and is there a forum somewhere for diabaetic to discuss these food type issues
We need help she has not eat much in days
fresh veggies, little meat like steak, chicken minus the skin, turkey(nothing processed like baloney, ect),no sugar(if you want a sweetener, use Splenda),cut down on fat, sodium.Eat three times a day to help control your blood sugar.Find out what your calorie intake is supposed to be and divide that by three and use that as a guide to determine how many calories you should eat at each meal.get rid of the big plate and use a smaller one to cut down the portion size.a bigger plate means more food can be put on it. get out and walk,at least 30 minutes a day.drink water, coffee, iced tea,hot tea and lay off the alcohol.make your own salad dressing with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and some spices. the stuff that's bottled in the store is filled with fat, sugar, and calories.these are just some suggestions.A slice of pizza would be fine now and then but not 3 or 4 in one sitting

Making the Mexican Diabetic (Paperback) $48.08 This innovative ethnographic study animates the racial politics that underlie genomic research into type 2 diabetes, one of the most widespread chronic diseases and one that affects ethnic groups disproportionately. Michael J. Montoya follows blood donations from "Mexican-American" donors to laboratories that are searching out genetic contributions to diabetes. His analysis lays bare the politics and ethics of the research process, addressing the implicit contradiction of undertaking genetic research that reinscribes race`s importance even as it is being demonstrated to have little scientific validity. In placing DNA sampling, processing, data set sharing, and carefully crafted science into a broader social context, Making the Mexican Diabetic underscores the implications of geneticizing disease while illuminating the significance of type 2 diabetes research in American life. |
