Should parents go to prison if they take their child to a doctor and she dies as a result of her treatment?

A lot of people on this board have been calling for prison time for the parents whose child died of diabetes-related complications after they refused medical attention for her.

But after cancer and heart disease, the leading cause of death in this country is the medical profession.

If they wanted to, the media could run headlines like this every day of the year: "Child dies after parents choose medical treatment over prayer."

So should parents go to prison if they take their child to a doctor and she dies as a result of her treatment? Give reasons for your answer.

To Rwin M: I think you need to read the question again more carefully.

the answer is no. how many people are treated by their doctors successfully? a lot of them. you are giving your child much better odds of surviving by taking them to a doctor instead of the slim chance they will make it on their own with prayer. not giving them medical attention is pretty much guaranteeing they will die, while the doctor will give them a good chance of surviving.

and this was not some risky illness she had. it was something very simply and easily treated. there is no good excuse for the parents' negligence.
